Second, the classification of wires and cables

According to the classification of wires and cables by the Japan Electric Wire Industry Association in 1977:

1. Bare wire 2, coiled wire 3, communication cable 4, power cable 5, covered wire

1. Bare wire -> As the name suggests, it has no insulating material. The main conductive materials are: gold, silver, aluminum, platinum and so on.

2. Winding line -> similar to the curve of a telephone handle.

3. Communication cables -> Wires and cables mainly used in communication. Telephone lines are obviously the most obvious example.

4. Power cable -> generally high-voltage transmission wire.

5. Covered wire -> generally low-voltage transmission wire.

Wire and cable can be roughly divided into the above five categories. However, it can be divided into 74 categories according to the specific materials, shapes, structures, and uses. For example, round wires, paper coiled wires, paper-insulated communication cables in the city, wires for alarms, etc., please refer to the relevant information for details.

Third, the production process of wires and cables

Copper smelting → copper drawing → wire drawing → stranded wire → insulation → cable formation → → → braid → → coil

1. Copper smelting At present, the cathode electrolytic copper method is used for copper smelting in industry.

2. Copper drawing, there are three methods for drawing wire:

Three stages: coarse extension (8.0>2.6 mm), medium extension (3.2/2.6>1.2/1.0 mm), fine extension (1.2/1.0>0.07/0.05 mm)

3.0. Tinning annealing: the purpose of tinning both ends of the wire and cable conductor.

3.1. Avoid contact with O2 to cause oxidation.

3.2. Convenient welding and easy operation.

Two methods of tinning:

3.2.1. Hot plating. The surface of the conductor copper is clean and free of oil stains.

3.2.1. Electroplating tin, the surface of the conductor after electroplating tin is smooth, good quality and thin surface.

4. Stranded wire, insulation, winding (braid), outer cover (printing), assembly (tape, filling, ground wire), braid, outer cover, cutting (rolled, reel-mounted) However, not all wires are required With the above process, some wire making process is much simpler.
